Vista64 USB compatibility

The Make Controller can now connect via USB to your Vista64 bit computer.

With a few tweaks to the USB driver file, we were able to add Make Controller USB support for Windows Vista64 machines.  This could not have been done without the help of the Make Controller community - specifically, big thanks go out to Tom Cryar and Aaron Tunell.

Install It

This has been checked in to the main Make Controller source repository so it will be included with future versions of mchelper/mcbuilder and the firmware, but if you want to install it now here are some quick instructions:

  • Plug your Make Controller in and open up the Device Manager (as described here, for example)
  • Under the Ports section, right click on the Make Controller Kit and select Uninstall, then unplug your Controller
  • Download the new driver file and put it in C:\WINDOWS\inf on your machine
    • If you have an older version of make_controller_kit.inf there you can replace it with this one.
  • Plug your Controller in again and let the Hardware Wizard install the driver automatically (it will look for the file by default in C:\WINDOWS\inf).
    • If the Hardware Wizard finds more than one version, select the .inf file that you just downloaded
  • That's it!
Let us know if you're having any trouble with it in the forum.
