Electronic Drums on Make controller

Posted by Aaron Tunell at May 03. 2008

I wanted to make my own electric drums without having to buy a MIDI drum unit. I wanted to be able to detect strike velocity using piezo sensors (radio shack alarm buzzer units $2.00 each). I also wanted to be able to apply some effects and choose my own .wav files. You can download these for free all over the net.

I've finished it! All you have to do is install the program and hook up piezos to your make controller. No midi rack required. I tried to make the interface as professional as possible.

Supports profile (song information) saving along with IP address and sound settings. Supports multiple sounds simultaneously (using DirectX 9). I've put a lot of time into developing this, so it should work pretty well. If you find a certain sound takes a moment to play, check that the sample has no empty space at the beginning...

I've included source as well as the published installer

If you want to make higher quality triggers for better response, check out Google for DIY drum sensors.

Any comments or suggestions welcome!
